The Department of External Relations and Cooperation has signed an agreement with the United Nations Industrial Development Organization (UNIDO) and the Union for the Mediterranean (UfM) in favor of the empowerment of women for inclusive industrial development and sustainable in Tunisia.
The objective of this four-year agreement is to promote the development of Micro, Small and Medium-Sized Enterprises for women in order to create more business opportunities and jobs for women of working age in Tunisia.
The pilot project, supported by Monaco, concerns more particularly female companies creating cosmetic and parapharmaceutical products based on natural products. This production concerns, in Tunisia, essential oils, floral waters, aromatic and medicinal plants as well as perfumes, creams, masks and soaps.
This intervention is finally part of a larger initiative aimed at the empowerment of urban and rural women in the Middle East and North Africa region.
The Department of External Relations and Cooperation has maintained, through its Directorate of International Cooperation, privileged cooperation relations with Tunisia since the early 90s. Monegasque Cooperation will follow with great interest this initiative in the service of the entrepreneurship of women.
As a reminder, Monaco has been a member of the UfM since 2008 and of UNIDO since 2003. Under the leadership of the Princely family, the Principality of Monaco is implementing a policy in favor of women's rights. In accordance with the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), actions are being carried out in various fields including that of socio-economic integration.
